The 16th Scottish Borders Walking Festival will take place in Peebles, in the heart of the Tweed Valley.

Boasting some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Scotland, the Tweed Valley is less than an hour’s drive south of Edinburgh and only a couple of hours north of Newcastle, but a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Glede Knowe Guest House is ideally situated for access to the best of walking in the Borders from gentle strolls in the forests of nearby Glen Tress to long, more challenging days in the surrounding hills. Bill and Alison, proprietors of Glede Knowe, are both highly experienced hillwalkers who have walked and climbed in Scotland and overseas for over 40 years.  We can help you plan both short, relaxing – or more strenuous - walking trips, provide maps, and advise on routes, likely conditions and times. The Scottish Borders Walking Festival - the longest established walking festival in Scotland - is a 9-day festival of walks and a full programme of social events, to suit all ages and abilities.

With its purple hills and lush valleys, the Tweed Valley is a fantastic walking
destination - a real hidden gem.

In an attempt to put the area on the national walking map, we are hoping to attract a walker from every county in the UK to take part in this year’s Festival.
